Ajith's Billa 2 referred to Mumbai Censor Board!

By Ramchander

There has been many speculations for the delay in Billa 2 release. The first speculated reason was that in order to avoid a clash with Karthi's Saguni, the makers of the film postponed the release. But later it was revealed that as the final copy of the film was not ready on time, the movie bosses pushed the release. Now, we hear that the Ajith starrer film went for a re-censor, as the makers of the film were not happy with the 'A' certificate.

It is said that Sunir Kheterpal, one of the producers of Billa 2, was not happy with the certification and with the cuts made by the Regional Censor Board and he reportedly wanted 'U/A'. It was evident after he expressed his unhappiness on Twitter. He wrote, "Censor certification process not over yet. Will not compromise on film cuts. Next steps only after getting certificate." Hence, the Regional Censor Board referred the film to the Mumbai Censor Board to see if Billa 2 could be granted 'U/A' certification.

Reports say that the bikini and violent scenes at parts made the Regional Censor Board to give 'A' certificate for Billa 2, as they found that it was not fit to be watched by under-eighteen audience. However, it should now be seen whether the makers of the film would get justice in the Mumbai Censor Board.

Billa 2 is helmed by Chakri Toleti and it features Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah in the female lead roles. It is a prequel to Billa, which was directed by Vishnuvardhan.
