Ilaiyaraaja's 'Naandhaan Ungappanda' track to be played in Olympics 2012

Music Maestro Ilaiyaraaja composed Tamil track 'Naandhaan ungappanda...' has found a place in the list of songs to be played at the opening ceremony of London Olympics 2012. The musical playlist has been short-listed by Oscar Award winning director Danny Boyle of Slumdog Millionaire fame.

Reports say that the Ilaiyaraaja's track is one among 86 songs that will be played at the inaugural ceremony of Olympics 2012 on Friday, July 27. Danny Boyle is the artistic director of the event. Michael Jackson, Adele, Sex Pistols, M.I.A. (Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam), a British recording artist and songwriter, Amy Winehouse's songs also feature in the list.

The song 'Naandhaan ungappanda...' is a lesser-known track from the Tamil film Ram Lakshman, which featured Kamal Hassan and Sripriya in the leads. The track was sung by SP Balasubramaniam and written by Vaali in 1981.
