By Ramchander

Lyricist Madhan Karky has attempted something new for Mani Ratnam's Kadal. For the first time in his career, he has written folk songs for the upcoming Tamil movie.

Confirming the news to a daily, Madhan Karky has said that it was a special song simply because it is a Mani Ratnam film. Taking about the director, he has claimed that it is not difficult to work with him, as the maverick filmmaker is clear about what he wants from the writer. The lyricist adds that he has written three folk songs for the movie.

Madhan Karky ends on the note that he love challenges but he is not open for writing songs that make fun on women. However, Oscar Award winner AR Rahman has composed the music for the movie. Meanwhile, the shooting of the movie, which was kicked off on March 1, 2012, at Manapad, has been completed.

Kadal marks the debut of Gautham, the son of actor Karthik, and Tulasi, the daughter of actress Radha. The latter was roped in after Samantha walked out of the film citing date issues. The forthcoming movie also features Arjun Sarja, Arvind Swamy and Lakshmi Manchu in important roles.
