Rajinikanth
had
recently
requested
his
fans
to
quit
smoking.
During
his
birthday
celebration
last
week,
the
superstar,
whose
smoking
style
and
popping
cigarettes
into
his
mouth
become
a
trademark
of
Rajini,
urged
his
followers
to
bid
goodbye
to
the
cancerous
habit
even
though
he
has
not
completely
quit
smoking.
However,
some
of
his
fans
have
responded
to
his
request
and
have
started
an
anti-smoking
campaign.
In
different
parts
of
Tamil
Nadu,
his
zealous
fans
are
gathering
at
places
and
burning
cigarettes
like
a
bonfire
to
create
awareness.
Adding
to
that
they
are
shouting
slogans
in
public
to
quit
smoking
along
with
praising
the
superstar.
Recently,
addressing
a
gathering
of
his
fans
to
mark
his
birthday,
he
said
his
illness
had
been
caused
by
smoking,
but
admitted
he
was
unable
to
give
it
up.
"I
haven't
quit
smoking,
but
you
should
do
so," he
said
adding
that
he
has
recovered
from
his
kidney
ailment,
involving
extensive
medical
treatment,
only
by
God's
grace
and
the
prayers
of
his
fans.
