Confirmed: Samantha to star in Mani Ratnam's Pookadai

Samantha, the Gautham Menon's discovery, has bagged a big project to her kitty. The actress, who is basking with the success of Telugu movie Dookudu, has been signed by none other than Mani Ratnam for his next project, which is tentatively titled Pookadai.

Confirming the news, delighted Samantha said that her dream to work with the legendary director is coming true with Pookadai. It was surprising to note that the actress, who had given screen test two months ago for the film, reportedly failed in the test. However, as the filmmaker did not find any other suitable girl, the Moscowin Kavery star was roped in to play the female lead.

Ask her about it, Samantha claims that she is not aware of any such development and the actress is on cloud nine to bag the project. The movie is a launchpad of veteran actor Karthik's son Gautham. Pookadai features Arjun Sarja and Lakshmi Manchu in key roles. In the technical front, Mani Ratnam's trusted men AR Rahman and Ravi K Chandran are handling the music and cinematography department.
