Shankar's Nanban clashing with Lingusamy's Vettai

This Sankrathi will be a season of multi-starrer films. The fast-approaching festive season will be a stage for the battle of two big movies - Shankar's Nanban and Lingusamy's Vettai.

Shankar's Nanban, which is a remake of Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots, is releasing on January 12. The upcoming Tamil movie stars Vijay, Ileana D'Cruz, Jeeva, and Srikanth in the leads. The big names in the cast-crew and the success of the audio have made the audience to wait for its release on their toes. Adding to that the movie is a youthful entertainer and this factor is expected to give the movie a good opening, believes trade pundits.

On the other end, Lingusamy's Vettai too has big names. Madhavan, Aarya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul starrer movie is releasing on January 13. Maddy-Lingusamy, who delivered a blockbuster in the form of Run earlier, combo has generated curiosity among the audience. The music of the movie has also drawn the attention of the cine-goers.

On a whole, traders believe that Nanban has an edge over Vettai for very simple reason, Vijay-Shankar factor. Nonetheless, both the films are almost releasing in same number of theatres.
