Sony bags Neethaane En Ponvasantham audio rights for a fancy price

The audio rights of the much-anticipated Gautham Menon's Neethaane En Ponvasantham has been bagged by Sony Music for a fancy price. An official release here said that the audio rights for the film, the music for which has been scored by Ilaiyaraaja, has been sold for Rs 2 crore. It is the highest-ever paid for a Gautham Menon film.

However, sources close to the film unit said that Sony Music had earlier paid Rs 1.5 crore for Gautham Menon's Hindi film Ek Deewana Tha, a remake of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. It is said that they had a few rounds of negotiations before sealing the deal and the Ilaiyaraaja factor played the crucial role in fetching the fancy price for the audio rights of the upcoming mutilingual movie.

Neethaane En Ponvasantham stars Jeeva in the Tamil version, Nani in Telugu, whereas Aditya Roy Kapoor will feature in the Hindi version. Samantha is playing the female lead in all three instalments. The movie is expected to hit the screens in September 2012.
