It
has
been
a
bad
year
for
the
most
of
the
A-list
Tamil
actors
as
many
much-hyped
films
did
not
live
up
to
the
expectations
of
the
audience.
Except
Vijay,
no
other
top
stars
have
given
a
big
hit.
A-list
actors
will
do
a
movie
or
two
in
a
year.
Rajinikanth,
Kamal
Hassan,
Vijay,
Ajith
Kumar,
Surya
and
Vikram
who
are
considered
as
the
A-list
Tamil
stars
by
traders,
have
reduced
their
numbers
to
concentrate
on
delivering
quality
products.
And
Karthi,
Jeeva,
Silambarasan
and
Arya
who
also
have
a
huge
fan
following,
are
also
no
exceptions.
In
the
year
2012,
Rajinikanth
and
Kamal
Hassan
did
not
even
have
a
single
release.
Whereas
Ajith,
Surya,
Vikram,
Dhanush,
Arya,
Simbu
and
Karthi
had
one
release
each.
On
the
other
end,
Vijay
and
Jeeva
are
ending
the
year
with
two
releases.
However,
Vijay
is
the
only
actor,
who
has
delivered
two
blockbusters
in
2012.
Rest
other
stars
like
Ajith
Kumar,
Surya,
Vikram,
Karthi
and
Jeeva
had
a
bad
year
as
their
much-hyped
films
have
bombed
at
the
Box
Office.
It
has
to
be
noted
that
Jeeva's
forthcoming
Neethaane
En
Ponvasantham
is
yet
to
be
released
and
the
result
of
the
film
is
awaited.
Now,
we
are
bringing
you
the
much-hyped
movies
that
failed
to
meet
the
expectation
of
the
audiences.
3
Dhanush's
3
came
as
the
first
shock
of
2012.
The
movie,
which
had
garnered
nation-wide
attention
through
the
track
'Kolaveri
di...',
got
mixed
reviews
from
critics
but
the
film
did
not
go
well
with
a
large
section
of
audience.
The
length
of
the
movie
played
the
spoilsport,
and
Aishwarya
Dhanush's
first
attempt
turned
out
to
be
a
flop
but
Dhanush
and
Shruti
Hassan's
performance
were
praised.
Saguni
Karthi,
who
had
a
dream
run
with
all
his
films
becoming
commercial
hits,
tasted
his
first
flop
with
Saguni.
The
majority
of
critics
gave
thumbs
down
to
the
film
due
to
the
weak
storyline
and
general
audience
were
hugely
disappointed
by
the
film.
Billa
2
The
biggest
upset
of
2012
was
Ajith
Kumar's
Billa
2.
The
movie,
which
had
a
wonderful
pre-talk,
went
to
become
a
dud
at
the
Box
Office.
The
film
was
far
below
expectation
of
the
audience
even
though
the
film
got
mixed
reviews.
The
prime
culprit
for
the
disaster
was
the
poor
screenplay
penned
by
director
Chakri
Toleti.
Mugamoodi
Tamil
audience
have
often
accepted
freshness
but
Jeeva
and
Mysskin's
Mugamoodi
could
not
impress
the
audience.
Though
the
film
was
commercially
successful
to
some
extent,
the
brilliant
performance
of
the
technical
team
and
lead
stars' performance
were
not
good
enough
to
pull
the
crowd
to
make
the
film
a
hit.
Thaandavam
Vikram
and
AL
Vijay,
who
had
earlier
given
Deiva
Thirumagal,
disappointed
the
audience
this
time.
The
film
was
opened
to
mixed
reviews
but
let
down
the
expectations
of
the
audience.
The
absence
of
regular
masala
elements
and
the
lack
of
good
music
played
the
spoilsport.
Maattrraan
Surya
and
KV
Anand's
Maatrraan
got
a
flying
start
at
Tamil
and
Telugu
Box
Office
but
it
could
not
run
for
long
as
the
film
was
below
cine-goers' expectations.
Surya's
magnificent
performance
was
overlooked
by
the
audience,
as
the
screenplay
was
not
tight.
However,
it
did
decent
business
and
was
comparatively
better
flick
than
the
other
films
that
we
have
mentioned
in
the
list.
