CV Kumar Acquires Lucia Remake Rights

Tamil producer CV Kumar has bought the remake rights of Kannada independent film Lucia starring Satish Neenasam, Shruthi Hariharan and Hardhika Shetty in the lead roles. The film will be remade in Tamil or Telugu. Pawan Kumar, who has directed the Kannada film, has confirmed the news.

Director Pawan Kumar has set a new trend in film industry with Lucia, which is not only successful in Karnataka, but also across the world. The elated filmmaker took to his Twitter page to share the news about its remake. He tweeted, "CV Kumar, producer of Pizza and Soodhu Kavvum now officially holds the rights to make Lucia in Tamil and Telugu. They will start shooting in March."

Reportedly made on a moderate budget of little over Rs 50 lakhs, Lucia is the first crowd-funded film in Kannada. How a magic pill called 'Lucia' changes the life of an insomniac once and for all is the crux of the film. Released recently via PVR Director's Rare banner, Lucia has earned critical acclaim from critics and audiences alike. The movie has also done well at the Box Office.

Lucia is a psychological thriller film, which has been premiered at the London Indian Film Festival on July 20, 2013, along with some Hindi movies like Monsoon Shootout and Bombay Talkies directed by Anurag Kashyap. It won the Best Film Audience Choice award at the festival.
