Mahesh Babu boards Chennai Express, but why not Ajith or Vijay

Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's fans are overwhelmed for two reasons. Firstly, his next film's first look and teaser were released on Friday (May 31) and the second reason is the most exciting part of the story. Well, the Pokkiri star is finally making his Bollywood debut and guess which movie? It is none other than Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan's forthcoming movie Chennai Express, where a part of the film revolves in Tamil Nadu.

However, it may have made Mahesh Babu fans happy, but not Tamilians. It is because the Kollywood audience wanted to see a Tamil star in the film as it is mainly connected to Tamil Nadu. While the Telugu star's fans are expressing their happiness on social networking sites over the inclusion of Mahesh in Chennai Express, some of the fans sites of Tamil stars are debating on the issue claiming that it would have been nice for the film if the makers of the film had chosen a Kollywood star.

Some suggested that Kamal Hassan would have added more value to the project, few others felt that Rajinikanth was the ideal choice. However, the former's name was suggested by many when compared to the two actors, as the latter did a cameo in Shahrukh Khan's earlier film Ra.One. Ajith Kumar and Vijay's names have been mostly discussed by their fans. Many on social networking sites raised questions saying that one among the afore-mentioned actors was a perfect choice.

The star power of Ajith and Vijay is huge, and their names in the film could have boosted to large extent in Tamil Nadu, claims many Kollywood cine-goers.

However, a section of audience believe that the roping in of a Tamil actor or Telugu actor will not make much difference to Bollywood audience, as for them, they consider Mahesh Babu, Vijay or Ajith as South actors.

There are also people, who defend the makers of Chennai Express' decision for roping in Mahesh Babu as they are attracting Telugu audience too. In the film, Tamil actors like Manobala, Sathyaraj and Mohan Ram are playing important roles. And signing any Kollywood actor would not have made much difference. Adding to that South actress Priyamani has done an item number in the film.

It may be recalled that Ajith Kumar had earlier worked with Shahrukh Khan in Hindi film Asoka. But the film had failed badly at the Box Office.
