Tamil director Kathir, who directed movies like Idayam, Ulavan, Kadal Desam, Kadalar Dinam and Kadal Virus, tied the knot with V Shanthini Devi on September 2, 2013, in Thiruparankunram, Madurai.
After wedding, the grand reception was organised in Chennai, on September 4, 2013. The event was filled with Kathir's industrial colleagues. Tamil famous filmmakers like K Balachandran, Vettrimaran, Hari, Mani Ratnam and others graced the event.
Kathir, son of M Subbiah and Thirumathi S Esakkiammal, got engaged few months ago to V Shanthini Devi, daughter of V Vijayakumar and V Dhanalakshmi, who is from Thanjavoor district.
Director Kathir became famous in Tamil film industry with his debut movie Idhyam starring Murali in the lead role, which made everyone to look upon him. It is said that director Kathir's Kadhal Virus laid a platform for AR Rahman's growth in Tamil film industry. It was also the debut movie for Richard and Sridevi Vijay Kumar, who played the lead roles in the movie.
Kadhal Virus also featured Abbas Manorama, Raghuvaran and Vivek in the supporting roles. Famous movie personalities like Cheran, Mani Ratnam, Mansoor Ali Khan, AR Rahaman and Raj Kapoor played the cameo roles in the movie. Unfortunately, the movie also put the director Kathir out of demand, by bitting the dust at Box Office.
