Shahrukh Khan, Honey Singh's Tribute To Rajinikanth

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan confirmed his collaboration with rapper Honey Singh for the song "Thalaivar Tribute (Lungi Dance)", and clarified that it was not part of his forthcoming film Chennai Express. The song is a tribute to legendary actor Rajinikanth.  

Honey Singh and T-Series chairman Bhushan Kumar had approached Shah Rukh five days back with a song dedicated to veteran actor Rajnikanth, who is given the title Thalaivar (supreme leader) by his fans. Confirming this, Shah Rukh told IANS:

"Who isn't a fan of 'The Rajinikanth'? I had met Honey Singh and Bhushan Kumar five days back and he made me hear the song, which is titled 'Thalaivar Tribute (Lungi Dance)'. "I found it very apt for Rajini sir and wanted to be a part of it as a fan of one of the greatest actors we have."

King Khan also agreed to be a part of the dedication because its theme is very close to Chennai Express. Composed, written and sung by Honey Singh, the song was choreographed by veteran choreographer Chinni Prakash.

Lungi Dance

The song will be a tribute to Rajinikanth. Shahrukh Khan and Honey Singh are confident that it will impress Rajini fans across the world.

Speaking about the song to a leading daily, composer Honey Singh had said, “I was very surprised and happy to hear from Sharukh Bhai. He said he wanted to do a particular song. I wrote and composed the song when I was in Mauritius.”

Actress Deepika Padukone, SRK's co-star in Chennai Express is also a part of the special song. Shahrukh Khan said, “Deepika, on my request, happily agreed to be a part of the song because even she is a huge fan of Rajini sir. The song is fun, happy and completely Rajinikanth Style."

Nevertheless, this is being seen as a masterstroke by Shahrukh Khan to woo the South Indian audience. Moreover, a film titled Chennai Express would be literally be incomplete without a mention of Superstar Rajinikanth.

Ra.One, which was released in the year 2011, was a science fiction super hero film directed by Anubhav Sinha. Bollywood King Khan Shahrukh and Kareena Kapoor were seen in the lead roles. South superstar Rajinikanth featured as a cameo appearance in the movie.

Chennai Express

Chennai Express is the second collaboration between Deepika Padukone and Shahrukh Khan, after 2007 blockbuster Om Shanthi Om. In this movie, Shahrukh Khan plays a role of a North Indian guy who will be travelling from Mumbai-Rameshwaram. Deepika will be seen as a traditional Tamil girl in the movie.

South star Priyamani will be seen in an item number in Chennai Express. Though being a Bollywood movie, Chennai Express has given importance for Tamil audience.

SRK And Dipi In Chennai Express

Chennai Express is directed by Rohit Shetty. The music is scored by Vishal-Shekar. Let's wait and watch if this Bollywood movie attracts South audience and it also stars South Indian stars.


After Chennai Express, Deepika Padukone will be seen in Rajinikanth's Kochadaiyaan. Deepika will be playing the lead role and her character is not revealed.
