Members
of
the
Tamil

industry
is
on
one-day
hunger
strike
today
(January
7)
to
protest
against
the
service
tax
levied
by
the
centre.
Film
and
television
shooting
will
not
take
place
on
the
day
and
theatres
will
remain
shut
between
8
am
and
5
pm,
industry
sources
said.
The
central
government's
decision
to
impose
12.3%
service
tax
on
entertainment
industry
has
made
the
film
fraternity
to
call
for
a
bandh.
Besides
actors,
directors
and
producers,
distributors
technicians
and
theatre
owners
are
also
taking
part
in
the
strike.
It
has
also
been
opposed
by
Bollywood
and
Sandalwood.

are

of
the
event.
However,
Kamal
Hassan
is
not
present,
as
the
actor
is
completely
busy
with
the
promotions
of
his
forthcoming
film
Vishwaroopam.
