In
spite
of
facing
the
hurdle
for
its
release
in
Tamil
Nadu,
Thalaivaa
which
was
released
in
other
states
and
overseas
is
looting
the
Box
Office.
The
movie
also
faced
tough
competition
from
Chennai
Express
which
was
released
on
the
same
day.
The
advance
booking
for
the
movie
was
stopped
in
Chennai,
after
the
theatre
owners
received
a
bomb
threat
from
a
Student
Union,
named
as
Oppressed
Students
Revolutionary
Force.
Thalaivaa's
crew
also
received
a
notice
from
Chennai
City
Civil
Court,
on
the
grounds
of
the
petition
filed
by
SKR
Karnan,
in
which
he
claimed
that
Thalaivaa
has
depicted
Tamil
leaders
in
the
poor
light.
The
petitioner
also
claimed
that
story
is
based
on
the
life
of
grandfather
SS
Kandaswamy
and
father
SSK
Ramaswamy
who
lived
in
Dharavi,
Mumbai.
These
two
controversies
made
the
movie
to
stall
its
release
in
Tamil
Nadu,
which
was
expected
to
be
a
major
set
back
for
the
Box
Office
Collection.
In
spite
of
getting
mixed
response
from
critics
and
controversies
in
the
home,
Thalaivaa
is
looting
the
Box
Office
as
Vijay's

did
earlier.
The
movie
which
was
released
in
