Vikram's David off to a decent start at Box Office
News
oi-Prakash
By Ramchander
Vikram
and
Jeeva
starrer
David
was
released
to
positive
reviews
on
Friday
(February
1).
The
film,
which
did
not
garner
much
attention
before
hitting
screens,
has
now
started
getting
good
response
from
the
Kollywood
audience.
David,
like
the
Hindi
version,
had
a
decent
start
at
the
Box
Office
on
the
release
day.
It
is
mainly
because
of
other
big
release
Kadal
directed
by
Mani
Ratnam.
Though
the
film
drew
the
attention
of
Vikram
and
Jeeva's
fans,
it
could
not
make
much
difference,
as
the
atmosphere
in
the
Tamil
film
industry
is
surrounded
by
the
Kamal
Hassan
starrer
Vishwaroopam.
However,
the
average
occupancy
on
the
release
day
was
above
45%
in
some
of
the
selected
theatres
in
Tamil
Nadu.
With
positive
reviews
emerging
from
critics,
the
film
is
expected
to
make
wonderful
business
in
the
weekend.
David
is
an
action-thriller,
which
also
stars
Lara
Dutta,
Tabu
and
Isha
Sharvani
in
the
important
roles.
Jeeva
is
stepping
into
the
shoes
of
Neil
in
the
Tamil
version
of
the
film
and
most
of
the
casts
remain
same.
The
film
is
directed
by
Bejoy
Nambiar.
