Last
Friday,
3
movies
were
released
together
taking
on
each
other
at
the
box
office.
While
Naaigal
Jaakirthai
starring
a
Belgian
Shepherd
dog
and
Sibiraj
was
a
different
attempt,
Vanmam
was
a
tale
of
friendship
featuring
Vijay
Sethupathi
and
Kreshna.
Kaadu
though
was
a
huge
disappointment
which
meant
that
the
competition
would
be
between
Naaigal
Jaakirthai
and
Vanmam.
So
how
has
these
3
movies
fared
so
far
at
the
box
office
over
the
weekend?
The
results
have
been
surprising
so
far.
Naaigal
Jaakirathai
which
opened
up
to
positive
reviews
has
managed
to
rake
in
31,30,023
rupees
so
far
in
Chennai
alone
which
is
considered
as
an
above
average
opening
for
the
first
3
days.
In
Chennai,
the
movie
was
aired
141
times
and
enjoyed
65
percent
of
theatre
occupancy.
But
the
surprise
factor
creeps
in
when
we
look
at
the
box
office
collections
of
Vanmam.
Vanmam,
in
spite
of
receiving
average
reviews
with
some
movie
critics
calling
it
a
below
average
movie,
it
has
gone
on
to
collect
a
whopping
55,92,164
rupees
so
far
easily
surpassing
Naaigal
Jaakirathai.
Vanmam
also
enjoyed
more
shows
(201)
when
compared
with
Sibiraj's
starrer
but
the
average
theatre
occupancy
over
the
weekend
was
a
mere
55
percent.
Kaadu
has
not
managed
to
pull
in
massive
crowd
to
watch
the
movie
at
theatres
as
it
has
collected
a
meagre
2,85,548
rupees.
It
was
also
aired
just
33
times
in
the
city
and
had
a
poor
35
percent
theatre
occupancy
earning
it
a
'below
average
opening'
label.
The
numbers
are
bound
to
change
this
week
as
Naaigal
Jaakirathai
enjoyed
better
reviews
from
experts
when
compared
with
Vanmam.
This
could
also
spell
disaster
for
Kaadu
as
it
is
likely
to
be
left
out
of
the
race
with
Vanmam
and
Naaigal
Jaakirathai
expected
to
lock
horns
with
each
other
over
the
next
few
days.
For
your
convenience
we
have
mentioned
all
three
reviews
of
the
above
mentioned
movies
