Shankar Gives A New Lease Of Life To S Pictures

As a director, whatever Shankar has touched has turned gold. But as a producer, he has not tasted any success. This had forced him to stop producing or buying any movie. Now, the time has come for him to give a new lease of life to his S Pictures.

Shankar, who is getting ready for the audio release of his directorial movie Ai, has bought forthcoming Tamil movie Kappal. The movie is directed by his former associate Karthik, who had worked as an assistant director to him in Sivaji and Endhiran - The Robot. The film has Vaibhav, Sonam Bajwa, Karunakaran and others in the cast.

Kappal is an out-and-out comedy movie, which has impressed Shankar. Earlier, the director has said that he ventured into production not to make money but to encourage the movies of young talents made on meagre budgets.

Now, this flick by the young team has got a boost with the maverick director buying the movie. This development will now make many distributors to come forward and acquire theatrical rights of different regions. Kappa is likely to release after Shankar's much-awaited Ai, which stars Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead roles, hits the screens in October.
