Ajith Kumar seems to be on a dream run as his last few movies registered marvelous collections at the Box Office. Some of his films in the recent years have made amazing business and reinstated his stardom in Kollywood. His latest movie Veeram could be special for him as the film was directly pitched against Vijay's Jilla. The interesting part of the story is that Thala has a delivered a hit in spite of facing a huge competition.
The actor's star power has worked big time again. Ajith Kumar's Veeram was released for this Pongal with never-before hype. The success of his last movie Arrambam had made people to pin high hopes on his latest Tamil flick. On January 10, the film saw the light of the day along with Vijay's Jilla. Many were skeptical about the content as it had a look of 90s Tamil films. But the film turned out to garner positive reviews in large.
Veeram was released in about 750 screens worldwide and in 350+ screen in Tamil Nadu. On the first day, as expected, the film made earth-shattering business. First Weekend Business
In the first weekend, Ajith Kumar's Veeram grossed above Rs 26 crores at the Box Office in India. From international circuits, the Tamil flick made around Rs 5 crores.
First Week In Karnataka
In Karnataka, Veeram made more than a crore business in the first week and it made close to two crores in the Kerala Box Office.
Malaysian Box Office
So far, the collection of Veeram has crossed Rs 45 crores and the film has continued to make good business. The film did well in the Malaysian Box Office.
Veeram Doing Good In TN
Traders say that the turnouts for Veeram is good in Tamil Nadu. Indeed, it is better than other movies in the state. But internationally, Jilla dominated at the Box Office.
Veeram had made close to Rs 55 crores even before the release. By selling distribution, satellite and music rights, the Tamil flick had raked in good money.
While satellite rights fetched Rs 12 crores, the music rights earned Rs 1 crore for the producer.
Overseas distribution rights of Veeram made somewhere between Rs 7 to 9 crores. Karnataka and Kerala distribution rights had fetched Rs 1 crore each.
The total business (Rights+Box Office Collection) that the film made is more than Rs 100 crores. Hence, the film has been declared as the Blockbuster.
Ajith Kumar's Veeram is produced by Vijaya Productions and directed by Siruthai Siva. The film features Tamanna Bhatia, Santhanam, Vidharth, Munish, Sohail and others in the cast.
