Seriously CBFC? Can Films Get Away With 'U' Certificates Despite Showcasing Lip-locks?
Not long ago, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was severely condemned by many movie goers and fans when instructions were passed on to omit most of the lip-lock scenes from Spectre, the latest of Bond movies, before releasing it in India.
When everyone thought that CBFC is at its unbending best, Dhanush's Thanga Magan gets away with a clean 'U' certificate sans any major cuts.
This news has come across as a baffler to many as it is speculated that the 'family entertainer' has a couple of steamy lip-locks between Dhanush and Amy Jackson.
Interestingly, a one minute 36 seconds song video from the movie, which was released after acquiring the 'U' certificate, has a lip-lock scene, which is convincing enough for the CBFC members to award Thanga Magan a U/A certificate.
In recent times, films featuring prominent stars are being awarded with 'U' certificates, irrespective of its content.

One such recently released flick that surprised everyone was Thala Ajith's Vedalam. The action entertainer bagged a clean 'U' from CBFC, despite portraying enough violence, for it to gain a U/A.
