Tamil Cinema: Highlights Of Last Week

It's the beginning of a new week and hence it is time for us to turn the clock back in time to figure out what defined Tamil cinema in the past week(16th of March to 22nd of March).

Last week was exciting for Kollywood as many interesting announcements and events took place. Unlike the second week of March, the third week of this month did not start on a positive note.

Tamil Cinema: Highlights Of Last Week

Actor-director Sasi Kumar fractured his left hand while shooting for Bala's Thaarai Thappattai. The shooting of the movie came to a standstill as the entire crew flew back to Chennai while Sasi Kumar is on the path to recovery at a Madurai hospital.

Then, came an important announcement, Aishwarya Dhanush, who impressed one and all with her debut film 3 announced the release date of her next film. It is said that Vai Raja Vai  will hit the screens on 24th of April.

After starting on an unfortunate note, the week slowly witnessed some positivities as the stay order that had been imposed on Kamal Haasan's Papanasam was lifted at a Ernakulam court after a man had claimed that the movie was based on his novel.

When Vijay Joined Hands With Vijay!

Director A.L. Vijay directed Ilayathalapathy Vijay for the second time after Thalaivaa. This time though it was for an advertisement of a leading jewellery brand.

Vignesh Shivan, who is directing Vijay Sethupathi's upcoming film Naanum Rowdydhaan opposite Nayantara, managed to rope in actor-director Parthiepan to play the antagonist in the film. The expectations of this project heightened after the news made the headlines.

Suriya's Praise For Rajathandhiram

Suriya congratulated the team of Rajathandhiram after he was impressed with the movie. He also went on to say that it is a great film which instilled confidence to the entire team.

The Most Exciting Collaboration

Earlier we had informed that Anirudh might be roped in to take care of the music department in Thala Ajith's upcoming movie with Siruthai Siva. It was made official last week when the exciting musician signed on the dotted lines.

Sadha Opposite Vadivelu

It was said that Sadha, who was one of the most sought after actress at the time of Anniyan's release will be seen opposite Vadivelu in his upcoming movie Eli. The veteran comedian's next film is being directed by Yuvaraj.

Maestro's Social Connect

Ilayaraja joined Facebook last week to put an end to the consequences created by some fake accounts. He said, "this account is my official one and all information about my work will be updated here henceforth."

Rajinikanth's Consideration

The Lingaa star decided to pay 10 crore rupees, which is one-third of the total money allegedly lost by the distributors due to the failure of the movie Lingaa. The distributors however said they weren't happy as they expected Rajinikanth to refund the entire money.
