Many actresses in the past have fallen for their directors and have even taken their relationship to the next level. While some of them have continued to live a happy life, a few have parted ways without much of a fuss.

Whatever their current marital status is, it is an undeniable fact that heroines tend to fall in love with their directors as they look up to them and thus it becomes an easy task for the men in charge to woo their heroines.

Shobha-Balu Mahendra

Shobha has acted in many movies, with Balu Mahendra either being the director or the cinematographer. In fact, Balu Mahendra's directorial debut Kokila saw Shobha in a prominent role. Unfortunatley, Shobha committed suicide at the age of 17 after marrying Balu Mahendra.

Saranya- Ponvannan

Though Ponvannan is known more for his acting abilities, he started his career as an assistant director and has worked with Saranya in many movies. He married the Nayakan actress in 1995 and the couple have two daughters.

Seetha-Parthiepan

Seetha fell in love with Parthiepan during the shoot of the award winning film Pudhea Paadhai and subsequently went on to marry him in 1990. The couple have two daughters and an adopted son. They however, got divorced in 2001.

Radhika-Pratap Pothen

Pratap directed Radhika in the film Meendum Oru Kaathal Kathai in 1985 and went on to marry her in the same year. Their marriage did not last long though as they got divorced the following year.

Poornima-Bhagyaraj

Bhagyaraj directed the movie Darling, Darling, Darling in the year 1982 which had Poornima and himself in the lead roles. The star couple got married in 1984 and have a daughter and a son.

Revathi-Suresh Menon

Revathi married cinematographer and director Suresh Chandra Menon in 1986. However following differences between them, they started living separately from 2002 and were granted divorce on 22 April 2013. Suresh has directed two Tamil films with Revathi as the lead actress.

Ramya Krishnan-Krishna Vamsi

Krishna Vamsi is a Telugu filmmaker who directed Ramya Krishnan in the film Chandralekha in 1998. They got married in 2003 and the heroine-director pair have a son.

Roja-Selvamani

R. K. Selvamani introduced Roja to Tamil cinema in the year 1992 through the film Chembaruthi. They went on to get married in the year 2002 and have a daughter and a son.

Devayani-Rajakumaran

Rajakumaran directed the award winning film Nee Varuvai Ena in the year 1999 which had Devayani in the lead. The couple created a sensation when they eloped together in 2001 to get married. The couple have two daughters.

Preetha-Hari

Though Hari has never directed Preetha, it is said that the two fell in love with each other when Hari was working as an assistant director. They eventually got married and have three sons.

Suhasini-Mani Ratnam

Mani Ratnam has not directed Suhasini in any of his movies but they have worked together as Suhasini has worked as a dialogue writer and as a dubbing artist in many Mani Ratnam movies. The star couple got married in 1988 and have a son named Nandan.

Sonia Agarwal-Selvaraghavan

Selvaraghavan first directed Sonia in Kaadhal Kondein and also introduced her through that movie. They fell in love and got married in 2006. Unfortunately, they got divorced in the year 2010 due to differences.

Kushboo-Sundar C

Kushboo and Sundar C fell in love with each other after the latter directed the bubbly looking heroine in his first movie Murai Maman. They got married in the year 2000 and have two daughters.
