World Health Day: Tamil Celebrities And Their Fitness Mantras!

It's April 7th and it's world health day, so here is our compilation of Tamil actors and actresses who have inspired others over the years by sweating it out to keep their fitness in check.

Many of them have been fitness freaks right from the beginning while a few have broken all barriers to set an example and show that anyone can turn their paunches into packs.

As far as Tamil cinema is concerned the celebrities who started the trend were Sarathkumar and Arjun Sarja. Remember both these actors talking about how important fitness is?

Today, the fitness level has generally improved and hence many heroes and heroines are seen working out in gyms to show it off later on the big screen.

Also, since directors are increasingly coming up with fit looking characters for their movies, the need to tone one's body before commencing the shoot is on the rise, I being a classic example.

So who among Kollywood celebrities today can be categorized as fitness freaks? Well, those who hit the gym on a regular basis irrespective of their busy schedule.

Suriya's inspiration to stay fit comes from his family as his father Sivakumar is an expert in Yoga. After sporting six packs in his movies, Suriya regularly works out and even bumped into Arnold Schwarzenegger of late while working out in a gym.


Balanced diet, regular work outs and a mini gym set in her own backyard, Trisha sure knows how to maintain her figure. It is also said that she works out at least for one and a half hours daily.

Neetu Chandra

Having represented India in the 1997 World Taekwondo Championships that took place in Hong Kong and with two black belts in Taekwondo against her name, Neetu Chandra is more than just a fitness freak.


Sunaina makes sure to hit the gym regularly to burn off those carbohydrates. No wonder she is able to maintain a decent body over a long period of time.


Madhavan who has generally been a fitness freak has taken it to a whole new level as his upcoming movie in Tamil, Irudhi Suttru requires him to pose as a boxing coach.

Sameera Reddy

For Sameera, fitness tops her priority list. She is into power yoga, hits the gym regularly, jogs and swims for at least 45 minutes. Basically she is a one who is addicted to fitness.


Tapsee recently admitted that she is not a gym freak and doesn't stop from eating what she likes. However, it is her love for swimming and dancing that keeps her fit. Indeed, there are lots of ways to keep our body fit.


Hansika was earlier loved as a bubbly looking actress but all that has changed. She has begun sporting her hot body in movies thanks to her latest addiction, fitness.


Atharvaa's upcoming film Eetti requires him to sport a six pack abs and the actor is on the right track to flaunt one. Otherwise too, Atharvaa makes sure he stays in shape always.


Bharath is the latest addition to the list as he became a fitness freak for his movies. Bharath is also a trained dancer and reveals that dance have always helped him to maintain a fit body.
