Actress Jyothi Lakshmi (68) Passes Away After Losing Her Battle To Blood Cancer

Veteran actress and dancer Jyothi Lakshmi, known for her item numbers in the 60s and 70s, passes away in Chennai. She was suffering from Leukemia (blood cancer), according to a report.

Aged 68, the well-known actress breathed her last around 12 AM (Tuesday). It is said that her health deteriorated over the last few days and she lost her battle to cancer after suffering an unendurable chest pain. She is survived by her daughter Jyothi Meena.

Jyothi Lakshmi was undergoing treatment at a private hospital here in the city. The last rites will be performed today and the actress will be laid to rest at the Kannammapettai cremation grounds, Chennai.

Jyothi Lakshmi has appeared in more than 300 movies. She was predominantly seen in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films.

After making her Tamil acting debut with the MGR-starrer Periya Idathu Penn in the year 1963, she went on to captivate Lakhs of moviegoers with her impeccable dancing skills.

A trained dancer, Jyothi Lakshmi never stopped her frolic way of life. In fact, she was seen doing what she had done best in some of the recently released movies.
