Film-maker Vetrimaaran, who is fresh out of the success of the critically acclaimed Tamil film Visaaranai, has acquired the rights for the book 'Shoes Of The Dead' to adapt it into a feature film.

Authored by Neelima Kota, the book throws the spotlight on farmers' suicides.

"Pleased to announce that we've acquired the filming rights for #ShoesOfTheDead by @kotaneelima." Grass Root Film Company ‏posted on its official Twitter page.

Later, Vetrimaaran confirmed that he is willing to remodel the book into a film, he said, "This is a book that I feel needs to be made into a film."

"Thanks Vetrimaaran for choosing my book 'Shoes Of The Dead' for a movie. Farmer suicides have waited long for spotlight," Neelima posted on her social media page on Wednesday (March 16th).

The film will be produced by Vetrimaaran's home banner, Grass Root Film Company.

The National Award winning film-maker's Visaranai was also partly based on Tamil novel 'Lock Up'.
