The
much
awaited
official
trailer
of
Vikram's
Iru
Mugan
is
here
and
looks
like
we
have
yet
another
sci-fi
thriller
in
the
pipeline.
Though
the
trailer
gives
away
the
setting
of
Iru
Mugan
which
is
crystal
clear,
what
it
doesn't
portray
with
conviction
are
some
of
those
blink-and-you-miss-it
shots,
that
may
turn
out
to
be
crucial
in
stitching
together
the
story
of
Iru
Mugan.
The
Shaman
Connection
What
intrigued
me
the
most
while
watching
the
trailer
is
the
shot
that
depicts
a
man
as
a
shaman.
A
shaman
is
a
person
regarded
as
having
access
to
the
world
of
spirits,
both
benevolent
and
malevolent.
Going
by
the
trailer
the
Anand
Shankar
directorial
may
have
a
psychic
element,
in
addition
to
the
science
fiction
angle.
The
Evil
Within
If
there
is
a
psychic
element
in
the
movie,
that
automatically
explains
the
eerie
black-coloured
iris
of
characters
seen
in
the
trailer.
Interestingly,
all
important
characters
including
the
ones
played
by
Nayantara
and
Vikram
(both
positive
and
negative),
sport
a
black-coloured
iris.
Gone
Gothic?
Going
by
his
attire
and
black
nail
polish
which
is
deliberately
flaunted
by
Vikram,
it
looks
like
the
National
Award-winning
actor
may
have
taken
up
the
role
of
a
gothic
for
the
first
time
in
his
career.
The
Goths
or
gothic
people
were
an
East
Germanic
group
who
played
a
crucial
role
in
the
fall
of
the
Western
Roman
Empire
and
the
emergence
of
Medieval
Europe.
The
Dark
World
Angle
It
is
pretty
much
apparent
that
one
of
the
characters
played
by
Vikram
is
some
kind
of
a
mad
scientist.
Now,
taking
into
consideration
the
above
points,
it
can
be
deduced
that
Vikram
might
play
a
mad
scientist
who
believes
in
the
existence
of
the
dark
world,
making
his
character
that
much
more
mad.
A
Delve
Through
The
Past?
While
in
all
other
scenes
Vikram
appears
as
a
stylish
detective
with
neatly
groomed
hair,
in
one
particular
shot
he
sports
a
relatively
long
hair.
Also,
the
setting
of
that
particular
scene
looks
uncouth,
leading
to
a
speculation
that
Iru
Mugan
might
offer
a
peek
into
the
past.
