Is Rajinikanth The Biggest Superstar Of India?

After the release of Kabali, one question that lingered on in everyone's mind was 'is Rajinikanth the biggest superstar of India'? Salman Khan's name too, was being considered as it was Kabali vs Sultan at the domestic box office.

Perhaps, that is the reason why The Indian Express decided to conduct a poll to settle the ambiguity once and for all. And, the result was staggering.

USA Box Office

According to a report, Kabali has collected more than $4 Million from its first 10 days of theatrical run in the USA. The figures include collections made from premiere shows as well.

Canada Box Office

In Canada, the film produced by 'Kalaipuli' S Thanu, has grossed $358,625. This is by far the best for any Tamil movie in the country, it is said.

Hindi Version

In North India alone, the Hindi version of the movie has minted more than 30 Crore rupees, according to a report. For a dubbed version, these numbers are truly staggering.

Making The Distributors Happy

"It's heartening to see that the Rajinikanth mania was not just limited to the south markets but prevalent across the country. We are proud to have distributed the film in north India, and I am sure that the film will have a long run," a distributor had said.

Nearing 700 Crores?

According to the latest report, Kabali is nearing the 700 Crore mark from its worldwide box office. If it does well this weekend, it might become the first Tamil movie to collect 700 Crores.

Most of Salman and other fans of Khans will not be happy with what they are reading right now, but the poll was in favour of the Southern superstar.

Rajinikanth won the poll and how! 62 percent of the voters believe that the Enthiran actor is the biggest superstar of India. The result was announced after considering more than 6000 votes from every nook and corner of the country.

Factors like Rajinikanth's longevity, success rate of his films, his inspiring rags to riches story and most important of them all - his ability to entice millions of viewers into cinema halls even at the age of 65 might have played a big part in helping the voters make their choice.
