Even as many rue over the "unfinished" climax of Kabali, director Pa Ranjith and producer 'Kalaipuli' S Thanu seems to know what they are doing. In fact, Thanu has said Kabali's open-ended climax was a deliberate effort.

"We created an open-ended climax for 'Kabali'. So, director Ranjith and I are interested in a sequel for this gangster flick. However, Rajinikanth will have to give us the nod to carry on. The film's collections indicate that it is a sensational hit, and has surpassed all records," Thanu told Deccan Chronicle.
So with the producer and director all set to dish out Kabali 2, it now entirely depends on Rajinikanth, whether or not he wants to go ahead with the project.
Earlier, Ranjith had said if Kabali does well at the box office, then the sequel will take shape.
"The film has scope for a sequel as 'Kabali' has an open ending. Based on fans' reaction after watching the movie, we can ponder upon the idea of making 'Kabali 2'," the Madras film-maker had said.
Now that the movie is adjudged a blockbuster, Kabali 2 might soon take off, which will serve as a treat to Rajinikanth's fans as they will yet again get to witness their favourite star with his cool beard, doing the 'Kabali swag'!
In North India too, Kabali has done exceptional business over its opening weekend.
"First day collections are close to Rs 4.5 Crores, followed by Rs 5.5 Crores on the second day. The film minted approximately Rs 7 Crores yesterday (July 24)," Thanu told the leading daily.
