Ritika
Singh
has
been
roped
in
to
play
Raghava
Lawrence's
heroine
in
the
Tamil
remake
of
P
Vasu's
Shivalinga.
Shivalinga,
a
Kannada
film,
starring
Shiva
Rajkumar
was
a
massive
hit.
Directed
by
P
Vasu,
the
film
went
on
to
bag
both
critical
and
commercial
accolades.
While
Raghava
was
roped
in
to
essay
Shiva
Rajkumar's
role,
it
was
speculated
that
Anushka
Shetty
might
play
the
female
lead.
But
now,
it
has
been
confirmed
that
Ritika
will
play
the
role,
essayed
by
Vedhika
in
the
original.
"I
wanted
someone
new
who
hasn't
done
this
type
of
character.
So
far,
only
one
film
of
Ritika's
has
released,
so
she
is
still
relatively
a
fresh
face
in
Kollywood.
I
liked
her
in
'Irudhi
Suttru'.
It
did
not
feel
like
her
first
film.
She
is
a
National
Award-winner,
and
the
role
in
my
film
is
a
performance-oriented
one,
so
I
felt
she
would
be
right
for
it," Vasu
told
a
leading
daily.
So,
will
Ritika
be
able
to
match
up
to
the
dancing
skills
of
Raghava
Lawrence?
Vasu
has
said
the
boxer-turned-actress
promised
him
to
give
her
best
shot,
when
it
comes
to
shaking
a
leg,
alongside
one
of
best
dancers
South
India
has
ever
produced.
"I
told
her
Lawrence
is
a
very
good
dancer
and
it
is
going
to
be
a
challenge
for
her
to
dance
alongside
him.
So,
I
wanted
her
to
concentrate
on
dancing
to
match
up
to
him.
She
has
promised
me
she
would",
the
veteran
film-maker
has
said.
It
is
worth
mentioning
that
P
Vasu
had
earlier
remade
Apthamitra
(Kannada
movie)
in
Tamil
as
Chandramukhi,
which
went
on
to
become
one
of
the
most
successful
Tamil
films
ever.
Interestingly,
Apthamitra
was
based
on
Manichitrathazhu.
