SHOCKER: 'Sathuranga Vettai' Actress Ishaara Says She Was Subjected To Physical & Verbal Abuse

Actress Ishaara Nair of Sathuranga Vettai fame, who was accused of absconding without completing her shooting assignment, by the makers of her upcoming film Engada Irundheenga Ivvalavu Naala, has finally opened up on the controversy.

Speaking to Chennai Times, the young actress has claimed, she was subjected to physical and verbal abuse by director Kevin Joseph.

Ishaara Nair Controversy

Here is what she has told the leading daily: "First of all, I had given them the asked-for dates spread over six months. It is just that they were not shooting when I had the dates. They shot with me for only two days in all these four months. And I have other commitments. I never told them that I will not be giving any more dates. I only told them that I didn't have any dates right now."

"Secondly, I was not happy with the way the director was behaving with me. He used to call me 'vaa dee' and 'po dee'. During the shoot, the director used to explain the scene to me in a vulgar way in front of everyone. I come in this film as myself, as 'Sathuranka Vettai' Ishaara. In that case, imagine how such a scene will affect my reputation."

"I cannot even explain how vulgar the scene was. He was trying to touch me while talking to me. He used to push me to the wall and say, 'Pannu dee pannu dee'. That was not professional. I was feeling harassed and I could not do the movie."

"There was one scene, where my character would be chased on a car. I was supposed to run away from the car, but the director, who drove the car, failed to hit the brake. The car hit me, and I fell down. I don't know if he did that on purpose or if the brakes really didn't work. I was feeling unwell, but no one on the set really bothered about it. How do you expect me to work when I do not feel safe on the set?"

Kevin, on the other hand, has claimed that he did not physically abuse the actress and that the storyline doesn't have vulgar content.

He, however, has admitted that he used singular terms while addressing her and that's only because of his upbringing in Nagercoil, where people are used to talking that way.
