Actor
Sivakarthikeyan,
who
has
his
hands
full
with
various
upcoming
projects,
couldn't
take
up
Francis
Markus'
forthcoming
flick
Oyee,
which
was
originally
written
for
the
Varuthapadatha
Valibar
Sangam
star,
according
to
the
director.
The
film,
which
has
music
by
'Isaignani'
Ilaiyaraaja,
was
offered
to
Sivakarthikeyan,
who
had
to
turn
down
the
offer,
citing
date
issues.
"I
had
approached
Sivakarthikeyan
with
the
story,
but
he
was
already
committed
to
a
project
so
he
couldn't
be
a
part
of
this
project.
We
had
approached
another
leading
hero,
but
we
were
faced
with
a
similar
fate," Markus
told
IANS.
Finally
Geethan
Britto
and
Eesha
were
selected
to
play
the
lead
in
the
village
based
drama,
which
is
all
set
to
hit
the
silver
screen
this
Friday
(April
8th).
Talking
about
the
film,
Francis
says
Oyee
follows
along
the
lines
of
'Ulaganayagan'
Kamal
Haasan's
Thevar
Megan
and
that
it
has
more
importance
to
its
female
lead.
"It's
a
story
along
the
lines
of
'Thevar
Megan',
with
focus
on
the
bond
between
a
father
and
son.
Set
against
a
rural
backdrop,
the
film
has
a
very
strong
role
for
the
heroine,
and
this
could
be
even
called
a
heroine-centric
film," he
said.
The
film
also
has
a
'Silambam'
(a
weapon-based
Indian
martial
arts
form)
angle
to
it.
"Geethan
underwent
training
in
Silambam
for
nearly
a
month
before
we
went
on
the
floors,"
said
Markus,
adding
that
the
movie
will
appeal
to
audiences
from
all
walks
of
life.
Oyee
was
shot
non-stop
for
40
days
in
and
around
Pollachi
and
some
portions
in
Chennai.
The
team
of
Oyee
is
banking
on
Ilaiyaraaja's
presence
to
get
their
film
the
all
important
recognition.
The
movie
has
five
tracks
sung
by
various
playback
singers
including
the
likes
of
Ranjith,
NSK
Ramya,
Rahul
Nambiar,
Karthik
and
Priya
Himesh.
