IN PICS: Vijay's 'Theri' Mints 85 Crores At The Weekend Box Office, Team Celebrates The Success!
Ilayathalapathy Vijay's latest release Theri is on a money-collecting spree, setting box offices on fire, not only in India but also overseas. With a total collection of 85 Crore rupees (approx) from the worldwide box office in its opening weekend, Theri is all set to hand Vijay yet another movie that belongs to the 100 Crore club.
According to a report, the Atlee directorial, after smashing the box office record of Vikram's I to become the highest first day grosser in Chennai, has gone on to amass a whopping 3.43 Crores by the end of its four day opening weekend.
North America, USA & Canada

United Kingdom

Australia

Malaysia
It is said that Theri has collected a whopping 5.25 Crores in Malaysia. Since Tamil flicks are quite popular in Malaysia, the film is expected to perform well in its second week as well.
Sri Lanka & Singapore
While Theri has collected 2.66 Crores in Sri Lanka, it is said to have gathered 2.96 Crores in Singapore. Both Sri Lanka and Singapore are known to have good market for Tamil movies.
United Arab Emirates
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the action entertainer has so far grossed close to 2 Crore rupees. It is to be seen how it performs in the forthcoming weeks.
Kerala
We had earlier mentioned that Theri had collected 35.5 Crores from Tamil Nadu. In Kerala, the film has amassed an impressive 9.88 Crore rupees, according to a report.
Andhra Pradesh & Telangana
In Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, the film has reportedly grossed 4.75 Crore rupees. "#theri declared blockbuster among distributors . Super happy #GV50 is a blockbuster." Music director GV Prakash had tweeted.
Karnataka
In Karnataka, where Tamil films usually do well, the Vijay starrer has gathered 6.12 Crores from its opening weekend, with Bengaluru being a major contributor.
Rest of India
From the remaining states of India, the film, bankrolled by 'Kalaipuli' S Thanu has managed to pile close to 50 Lakh rupees, taking the overall gross to 55 Crores (approx) from India alone.
Total Collections
It is said that Theri has approximately gathered a sizeable 85 Crore rupees at the worldwide box office. It is to be seen how long does the flick takes to join the 100 Crore club.
By becoming the first Tamil movie to gross close to 3.5 Crore rupees from its first weekend in Chennai alone, it is said that Theri now has a new record when it comes to Chennai box office.
In the whole of Tamil Nadu, Theri has so far collected 35.5 Crore rupees. If the collections remain steady throughout the second week, we may see Theri scaling newer heights at the Tamil Nadu box office.
Theri seems to be doing extremely well in some of the foreign countries too. "Going through the international data and I must say, Tamil film #Theri has taken a SUPERB start in key international markets." Taran Adarsh, a leading trade analyst had posted on his official social media page.
He further went on to say that much awaited Hindi flicks were facing tough competition from Theri in places like Austraila and North America. He said, "Hindi films facing tough competition in AUSTRALIA. Earlier, Punjabi films. Now Tamil film #Theri overtakes opng wknd biz of #Airlift there."
The film is also set to cross the $1 Million mark in North America. "Vijay's #Theri collects $924,531 by 1st weekend in North America. Just $75,469 away from Million mark! Theriffic!!" Cine Galaxy, the official distributor of the film in the USA had retweeted.
