After
wrapping
up
the
final
schedule
in
Ladakh,
Atlee,
the
director
of
Ilayathalapathy
Vijay's
upcoming
film
Theri,
has
confirmed
the
release
date
of
the
much
anticipated
film.
"Theri
doesn't
speak
about
social
reforms
or
politics.
It's
a
police
story.
Vijay
will
be
a
never
seen
before
police
officer
in
the
film." The
young
film-maker
has
said
in
an
interview
to
Only
Kollywood,
after
confirming
the
release
date
of
the
movie.
Theri
is
gearing
up
to
hit
the
silver
screen
on
April
14th,
which
marks
the
Tamil
New
Year.
Reason
behind
choosing
this
release
date
seems
to
be
more
tactical
than
sentimental
as
the
movie
would
enjoy
a
four
day
opening
weekend,
if
released
on
the
said
date.
Meanwhile,
the
film
will
move
into
the
post-production
stage
from
today.
Apart
from
Vijay,
Theri
also
houses
famed
film-maker
Mahendran
in
an
important
role.
"After
Vijay
sir,
Mahendran
sir's
role
is
the
backbone
of
the
film.
Like
how
Sathyaraj
sir
won
a
Filmfare
Award
for
'Raja
Rani',
Mahendran
sir
will
win
for
'Theri'.
You
cannot
define
his
role
as
positive
or
negative",
Atlee
has
said.
