Earlier,
we
saw
the
top
5
reasons
why
Suriya's
sci-fi
thriller
24
could
become
a
massive
box
office
hit
worldwide.
Now,
it
is
time
to
travel
to
the
other
extreme
and
check
out
the
top
5
reasons
why
this
film
could
flop.
Directed
by
Vikram
Kumar,
24
has
Nithya
Menon
and
Samantha
in
prominent
roles.
Bankrolled
by
Suriya,
the
movie
has
the
star
actor
portraying
3
roles.
Hype
&
Expectation
Entangled
with
hype
right
from
the
day
one,
24
is
one
of
the
most
expected
Tamil
movies
of
the
year
2016.
While
hype
and
expectation
may
work
wonders
at
the
box
office,
it
might
also
backfire,
with
best
example
being
Ilayathalapathy
Vijay's
Puli.
Competition
From
'INA'
&
'MGR'
24
will
not
have
a
long
uninterrupted
run
at
the
box
office
as
two
long
awaited
films
will
release
in
the
next
two
weeks.
While
Vishal's
Mada
Gaja
Raja
(MGR)
is
scheduled
to
hit
the
screen
on
May
13th,
Simbu's
much
awaited
Idhu
Namma
Aalu
(INA)
will
finally
release
on
May
20th.
Sci-fi
Movies
May
Backfire
We
had
earlier
mentioned
that
sci-fi
movies
might
attract
audiences
into
cinema
halls,
but
did
we
mention
that
these
movies
may
backfire
as
well?
Well,
it
may;
at
least
in
B
&
C
centres.
No
matter
how
simple
the
concept
has
been
reduced
to,
the
complexity
involved
in
a
theory
like
time
traveling
might
leave
general
audiences
scratching
their
heads.
Old
Wine
In
New
Bottle?
The
film
was
officially
announced
way
back
in
2009
with
Vikram
and
Ileana
D'Cruz
selected
to
portray
the
lead
roles.
But
eventually,
it
was
dropped
as
Vikram
backed
away
from
the
project
citing
issues
with
the
script.
It
is
the
same
story
that
Vikram
Kumar
narrated
to
Suriya,
who
then
agreed
to
take
up
the
project.
Chances
are
that
this
story
may
make
today's
audience
feel
like
they
are
watching
an
outdated
film,
now
that
we
are
in
2016.
The
Director's
Track
Record
In
Tamil
24
is
Vikram
Kumar's
third
Tamil
movie
with
the
first
two
being
Simbu's
Alai
and
Madhavan's
Yavarum
Nalam.
While
Alai
tanked
at
the
box
office,
Yavarum
Nalam
wasn't
as
successful
as
its
Hindi
counterpart.
The
question
here
is;
Can
Vikram
Kumar
come
up
with
a
movie
that
suits
the
Tamil
nativity?
This
question
is
yet
to
be
answered.
