Chandramukhi

Directed by P Vasu and bankrolled by Ramkumar Ganesan, Chandramukhi is the remake of a 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazham.

Interestingly, P Vasu first helmed this film in Kannada and then decided to remake it in Tamil. The film's 804th day celebration function was held at 'Kamaraj Arangam' in Chennai on 25 June 2007.

Vasool Raja MBBS

Starring Kamal Haasan in the lead, Vasool Raja MBBS is the remake of a Hindi film titled Munnabhai MBBS. Interestingly Munnabhai MBBS was inspired from an English flick named Patch Adams.

Vasool Raja MBBS, directed by Saran and produced by Gemini Film Circuit, was a huge box office success at the time of its release.

Nanban

Producing Nanban was a huge gamble as its original version 3 Idiots had done well at the box office at many places in Tamil Nadu. Yet, director Shankar and his team managed to deliver a winner.

Bankrolled by Manohar Prasad and Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nanban was a superhit worldwide. It is to be noted that 3 Idiots was based on the novel 'Five Point Someone' by Chetan Bhagat.

Papanasam

Papanasam is the remake of a 2013 Malayalam film Drishyam. Though Drishyam was remade into 3 other languages, Papanasam starring Kamal Haasan, turned out to be the most successful at the box office, collecting over 100 Crores.

Directed by Jeethu Joseph, who had helmed the original, the film was produced by Suresh Balaje, George Pius, Rajkumar Sethupathi and Sripriya.

Thozha

Directed by Vamsi Paidipally and produced by Prasad V Potluri, Thozha is the remake of a French movie titled Intouchables.

Starring Karthi and Nagarjuna, Thozha is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. The movie was a box office success in both the languages.
