With
mega
budget
movies
and
big-ticket
stars
taking
centre
stage,
last
year
was
eventful
as
far
as
Tamil
cinema
is
concerned.
Now
that
2015
is
history,
let's
have
a
look
at
what
2016
might
bring
to
the
table
for
all
Tamil
movie
buffs.
The
year,
after
starting
on
a
good
note
(with
the
release
of
Maalai
Nerathu
Mayakkam),
has
so
much
more
to
offer
as
films
like
Superstar
Rajinikanth's
Kabali
and
'Ilayathalapathy'
Vijay's
Theri
will
release
before
the
end
of
2016.
Not
to
forget
the
possibility
of
'Ulaganayagan'
Kamal
Haasan's
Viswaroopam
2
making
it
to
the
silver
screen
and
2016
already
has
a
handful
of
substantial
projects.
But
for
now,
January
14th
might
be
the
date
to
look
out
for
as
many
interesting
flicks
are
lined
up
to
hit
the
big
screen
on
the
festival
day.
To
start
off
with,
Bala's
Tharai
Thappattai
and
Sivakarthikeyan's
Rajini
Murugan
are
heading
straight
for
a
January
14th
release.
However,
movies
like
Gethu
(starring
Udhayanidhi
Stalin
and
Amy
Jackson),
Aranmanai
2
(starring
Siddharth,
Trisha
and
Hansika)
and
Vishal's
Kathakali
might
also
join
the
Pongal
race.
Apart
from
the
above
mentioned
flicks,
Madhavan's
Irudhi
Suttru
and
Simbu's
Idhu
Namma
Aalu
might
also
find
a
release
date
this
month.
