Two
prominent
Tamil
movies
Amma
Kanakku
and
Metro,
released
in
cinemas
last
Friday
(June
24).
While
Amma
Kanakku
was
directed
by
debutante
Ashwini
Iyer
Tiwari,
Metro
was
helmed
by
Ananda
Krishnan
of
Aal
fame.
So,
how
is
the
box
office
prospects
of
both
these
movies
in
Tamil
Nadu?
Well,
according
to
trade
experts,
Amma
Kanakku
might
fare
better
than
Metro
as
the
former
has
more
chances
of
attracting
family
audiences.
Metro
has
its
own
restrictions
as
the
film
is
certified
'A'
by
the
censor
board
and
hence
might
find
it
difficult
to
keep
the
cash
registers
ringing
through
out
the
weekend.
Having
said
that,
Metro
has
managed
to
garner
excellent
critical
reviews,
which
might
propel
its
chances
at
the
box
office,
especially
in
A
centres.
Going
by
the
theatre
occupancy
on
its
first
two
days
(Friday
and
Saturday),
The
Shirish-Bobby
Simha
starrer
might
gather
close
to
6.5
Crore
rupees
from
its
opening
weekend
in
Tamil
Nadu
alone.
Amma
Kanakku
on
the
other
hand
might
garner
8
Crore
rupees
(approx)
in
Tamil
Nadu,
from
its
first
three
days.
