Tamil cinema is all set to witness a blazing 2017 with the line-up of movies for the current year. The year has already started with both Vijay and Suriya entering the scene with Bairavaa and S3 respectively in the first quarter of the year.
Let us check the top 10 most anticipated movies of 2017.
Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta
Stylish film-maker Gautham Vasudev Menon and Natural Performer Dhanush are joining hands for the first time and guess what, the duo's efforts are already being appreciated with positive response for the film's first look, teaser and a song's lyrical video.
Megha Akarsh plays the love interest of Dhanush while GVM himself is co-producing the movie along with Madan. The movie was the centre topic of discussion in the social network for quite some time as GVM had not disclosed identity of the music director. It now seems that Darbuka Siva of Kidari fame is the music director of the movie.
Mani Ratnam puts his foot once again in his strong zone, the genre of romance. This Karthi-Aditi Rao starrer has AR Rahman composing some outstanding numbers and Mani Ratnam taking care of the writing, Direction and production departments.
"Azhagiye" & "Saarattu Vandiyila" are being played on loop amongst music lovers from the time of its release and the song promos are astounding and refreshing. The movie is touted to release on 7th April 2017.
Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan
This film reunites the classic combo of Simbu-Yuvan Shankar Raja after a long time. The movie sees Simbu portraying triple characters where one would be that of an aged person.
The teaser of "Ashwin Thatha" has already generated curiosity and the teaser has been received widely. Shriya and Tammanah would spice up the screen with Simbu whilst Adhik Ravichandran calls action-cut for the movie.
After the overwhelming success of VIP, the second part is coming even bigger with some interesting names of cast and crew being confirmed. This Soundarya Rajinikanth directorial movie would see Dhanush himself penning the story and dialogues.
Amala Paul and Saranya Ponvannan plays the love interest and mother character respectively, Sean Roldan has been shouldered with the responsibility of composing music. The Kalaipuli V Thanu produced film will have Kajol in the key role (Seen as an antagonist) and is slated for a June release.
For the first time, a GVM film's teaser has been released without a heroine character insertion, a song promo or a cheesy romantic dialogue. The 2:30 minute-odd lengthy teaser promises the movie to be on par with Hollywood standards in terms of making.
Chiyaan Vikram looks intense and dashing in the teaser. Harris Jayaraj has been roped in to compose music for this crime-based thriller.
Thaana Serndha Kootam
The title itself seems interesting as it's a famous line from Rajinikanth's blockbuster movie, Baasha. Interestingly, the protagonist, Suriya's screen name in the movie too is Baasha.
This Vignesh Sivan directorial has Keethy Suresh as the leading lady for Suriya and Anirudh composing music. Post the success of Naanum Rowdy Than which was a laudable attempt from the director, one can expect a different attempt from Vignesh Sivan with this crime-thriller.
With the remarkable success of Theri, the hit combo of Thalapathy & Atlee is back. This movie, while seeing on papers could possibly not go wrong by any means as the team formed is tailor made for a blockbuster.
Written by KV Vijayendra Prasad (writer of Bhajrangi Bhaijan), and music being composed by the Mozart of Madras, AR Rahman, the movie carries an ensemble casting of Samantha, Kajal Agarwal, Nithya Menen and S.J Surya.
