There's no denying the fact that Vijayakanth is one of the most prominent actors/politicians in the Tamil film industry today. Fondly called 'Captain', he enjoys a strong fan following thanks to his charismatic personality, bold nature, strong dialogue delivery, dashing personality and sincere performances. Over the years, he has starred in several popular mass films and this has gone a long way in establishing him as a matinee idol. The actor celebrated his birthday today(August 25, 2018) amidst much fanfare. On this special occasion, several fans took to Twitter wished him in the sweetest way possible.

In case you did not know, Vijayakath was born in Mudurai and entered the film world at a relatively young age. He got his first taste of success when the K Vijayan-directed Doorathu Idi Muzhakkam opened to a good response at the box office and earned critical acclaim.

Thereafter, he went on to star in successful films such as Sattam Oru Iruttarai and Senthoora Poove and this helped him find firm foting in the industry. The 1991 release Captain Prabhakaran is regarded as one of his best films. Its success helped him earn the title 'Captain'.

In 2006, Vijayakanth formed his own political party and this helped him add a new dimension to his career. Given his political ambitions, he has not been too active in films in the recent. However, he still enjys a strong fan following.
