Kaatrin Mozhi Day 1 Box Office Collections: Jyothika’s Film Opens On A Pretty Good Note
Nearly two months ago, the much-loved Jyothika gave strong proof of her abilities as a performer when Chekka Chivantha Vaanam opened to a thunderous response at the box office and received rave reviews. Directed by the ac e film-maker Mani Ratnam, the film also featured Arvind Swami, STR and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead. Now, Jyo is back with her latest release Kaatrin Mozhi. The film is a remake of the Vidya Balan starrer Tumhari Sulu and it hit the screens today(November 16, 2018). Here is a look at how it fared on Day 1.\

As per the initial trade reports, Kaatrin Mozhi opened to a fairly good response at the Chennai box office and raked in Rs 18 Lakh on Day 1. One is likely to get a clearer picture once the official figures are revealed.

Kaatrin Mozhi is not a mass movie. It is a simple yet effective comedy about the challenges faced by those who come from a middle-class background. While it is bound to be a treat for the family audiences, it's not really everyone's cup of tea. Keeping in mind the film's genre and limited reach, the collections are better than expected. And, this bears testimony to Jyothika's star power.
The WOM Is Positive
The consensus is that Kaatrin Mozhi is a pretty solid film that can be described as a faithful and effective remake. Jyothika has received praise for delivering a perfect performance. The critics have also praised the screenplay and stated that it never becomes boring or dull. As such, the WOM is healthy. And, this bodes well for Kaatrin Mozhi.
Is Thimiru Pudichavan A Problem For Kaatrin Mozhi?
Kaatrin Mozhi has hit the screens alongside Thimiru Pudichavan. However, the Vijay Antony starrer is unlikely to affect it in any way whatsoever. Thimiru Pudichavan is a masala movie that is likely to click with the youngsters. As the target audiences are different, the films are unlikely to create a problem for each other.

Kaatrin Mozhi is likely to remain the top choice of the target audience in the coming days. Given the limited competition, it should be able to end Week 1 on a good note. Enough said!
