Veteran
actor
Rajinikanth
just
took
to
Twitter
and
commented
on
the
former
Tamil
Nadu
Chief
Minister/DMK
President
M
Karunanidhi's
death.
Reacting
to
his
demise,
Thalaiva
said
that
he
was
heartbroken
by
the
unfortunate
incident
and
described
today
(August
7,
2018)
as
a
'black
day'
in
his
life.
While
offering
condolences
to
his
family,
Rajinikanth
added
that
he
had
lost
his
'kalaignar'.
He
added
that
he
would
pray
for
the
departed
soul.
"Today
is
a
black
day
in
my
life,
one
which
I
can
never
forget
as
I
lost
my
Kalaignar.
I
pray
for
his
soul," he
added.
Karunanidhi
was
admitted
to
a
noted
hospital
in
Chennai
on
Saturday
(July
28,
2018)
after
suffering
from
urinary
tract
infection
and
initially
showed
signs
of
improvement.
However,
his
health
'showed
a
decline' on
Monday
(August
6,
2018)
and
this
ultimately
led
to
his
death
today
(August
7,
2018).
Before
entering
politics,
'Kalaignar'
worked
as
a
scriptwriter
and
wrote
the
screenplays
of
several
hard-hitting
movies.
He
began
his
Kollywood
career
with
MGR's
Rajakumari
and
gave
a
strong
proof
of
his
abilities
as
a
storyteller.
The
1952
release
Parashakthi
is
considered
to
be
one
of
the
most
iconic
films
of
his
career.
The
Sivaji
Ganesan
starrer
dealt
with
the
core
ideals
of
the
Dravidian
movement
and
ruffled
a
few
feathers.
It
faced
opposition
from
the
orthodox
section
of
the
society
and
was
even
banned
for
a
short
period
of
time.
His
subsequent
films
too
touched
upon
sensitive
issues
like
widow
re-marriage
and
untouchability.
As
his
films
often
dealt
with
bold
issues,
they
frequently
ran
into
trouble
with
the
'Censors'.
Karunanidhi's
death
has
left
a
void
in
the
film
industry
and
the
world
of
politics.
And,
needless
to
say,
he
will
be
deeply
missed.
