Veteran
politician
and
former
Tamil
Nadu
Chief
Minister
M
Karunanidhi
passed
away
on
Tuesday
(August
7,
2018)
in
Chennai,
and
this
marked
the
end
of
an
era.
'Kalaignar'
was
hospitalised
a
few
days
ago
after
his
health
deteriorated.
Even
though
he
initially
showed
signs
of
improvement,
things
went
from
bad
to
worse
on
Monday
(August
6,
2018),
and
this
led
to
his
demise.
Karunanidhi
was
an
integral
part
of
not
just
Tamil
Nadu's
politics
but
also
its
cinema.
Before
entering
politics,
he
worked
as
a
writer
and
wrote
the
screenplays
of
several
popular
films
such
as
Raja
Rani
and
Manohara.
As
Tamil
Nadu
mourns
the
loss
of
an
irreplaceable
icon,
we
take
a
trip
down
memory
lane
and
take
a
look
at
some
of
his
rare
photos.
Karunanidhi
With
Rajinikanth
In
this
priceless
photo,
Karunanidhi
can
be
seen
alongside
Tamil
Superstar
Rajinikanth.
'Thalaiva'
shared
a
lovely
bond
with
the
DMK
chief
and
held
him
in
high
regard.
In
fact,
shortly
after
Karunanidhi
died,
Rajini
said
he
had
lost
his
beloved
Kalaignar.
The
Parasakhti
Duo!
This
photograph
is
bound
to
remind
countless
fans
of
Tamil
cinema's
golden
era.
In
it,
Karunanidhi
can
be
seen
alongside
the
iconic
Sivaji
Ganesan.
'Nadigar
Thilagam'
and
Karunanidhi
had
collaborated
for
several
classic
films,
including
the
timeless
Parasakhti.
Parasakhti
is
perhaps
best
remembered
for
its
strong
theme
and
that
iconic
courtroom
sequence.
Karunanidhi
At
His
Best!
Here
is
a
rare
photo
of
Kalaignar
addressing
a
public
meeting/rally.
It
is
bound
to
remind
his
followers
of
his
youth
days
and
leave
them
teary-eyed.
A
Photo
Worth
A
Thousand
Words
In
this
one,
Karunanidhi
can
be
seen
alongside
his
close
friend
MGR.
Kalaignar
is
often
credited
for
establishing
the
legendary
actor
as
a
bona
fide
mass
hero.
Their
film
Malaikkallan
is
regarded
as
an
all-time
classic
and
it
featured
several
strong
dialogues
that
were
penned
by
Karunanidhi.
Another
One
For
The
Ages
Here
is

in
the
South
Indian
state.
