A
Decent
Start
According
to
the
latest
trade
reports,
Saamy
Square
raked
in
close
to
Rs
6
Crore
at
the
Tamil
Nadu
box
office
on
Day
1
and
got
off
to
a
decent
start.
Similarly,
the
film
opened
on
a
fairly
good
note
at
the
Chennai
box
office
and
grossed
nearly
Rs
64
Lakh.
Saamy
Square
Fails
To
Beat
Seema
Raja
While
Saamy
Square
has
opened
on
a
good
note,
the
fact
remains
that
it's
proved
to
be
no
match
for
Seema
Raja.
The
Sivakarthikeyan
starrer
had
raked
in
nearly
Rs
1
Crore
at
the
CBO
on
its
opening
day.
Similarly,
Kamal
Haasan's
Vishwaroopam
2
too
had
opened
on
a
better
note
than
Saamy
Square.
The
spy-thriller
had
collected
Rs
92
Lakh
at
the
Chennai
box
office
on
Day
1
despite
releasing
days
after
M
Karunanidhi's
death.
The
WOM
Is
Not
Positive
The
general
feeling
is
that
Saamy
Square
is
a
decent
film
but
it
does
not
do
justice
to
the
high
standards
set
by
the
first
part.
Most
critics
are
of
the
opinion
that
Hari's
screenplay
is
lacklustre
and
does
not
do
justice
to
Vikram's
abilities
as
an
actor.
As
such,
the
WOM
is
not
too
positive.
And,
needless
to
say,
this
might
prove
to
be
a
problem
for
it
in
the
days
to
come.
The
Way
Ahead
Saamy
Square
is
likely
to
do
relatively
well
on
Saturday
(September
22,
2018)
and
Sunday
(
September
23,
2018),
and
witness
a
growth
in
collections.
However,
it
will
face
its
first
big
test
on
Monday
(September
24,
2018).
If
the
film
witnesses
a
significant
drop,
it
might
spell
trouble
for
Saamy
Square,
as
Mani
Ratnam's
multi-starrer
Chekka
Chivantha
Vaanam
is
slated
to
hit
the
screens
on
September
27,
2018.
It
is
one
of
the
biggest
releases
of
the
year
and
might
overpower
Saamy
Square.
