Sarkar Box Office Collections (Day 7): Vijay’s Film Slows Down Again
It is an open secret that Vijay is one of the most popular and talented stars in the Tamil film industry today. The much-loved actor enjoys an enviable fan following courtesy his dashing personality and humble nature. At present, he is in the spotlight because of his latest release Sarkar. The Murugadoss directorial hit the screens on November 6, 2018 and it took a fantastic opening at the box office. In doing so, it beat Kaala and reigned supreme. Now, a week later, Sarkar is still going strong at the box office. However, it seems to have slowed down.

Day 7 Collections
According to the latest trade estimates, Sarkar collected between Rs 5 Crore to 7 Crore at the the Tamil Nadu box office on Monday(November 12, 2018) and continued its run. The general feeling is that this is a decent figure even though it is lower than what Sarkar had collected on Sunday(November 11, 2018).
Not Upto The Mark
Sarkar had generated an extraordinary amount of pre-release buzz and taken an epic opening at the ticket window. Given the fantastic start, most trade experts had stated that it would have a phenomenal Week 1. However, this has not happened. The film's weekend and Day 7 collections are pretty ordinary when compared to the pre-release expectations. Needless to say, this is not a good sign.
The WOM Could Have Been Better
The general feeling is that Sarkar is a decent film and it does justice to Vijay's ‘mass hero' image. However, according to a few critics, the film is not as good as Kaththi and Thuppakki. As such, the WOM is average. The numerous controversies too have dented the public's opinion about the film. To make matters worse, the political references in the film too have not been appreaciated by everyone.
The Way Ahead
Sarkar is a highly ambitious film and it needs to collect nearly Rs 150 Crore in Tamil Naduu in order to be a success in the state. The film needs to pick up big time again in order to live up to the expectations. However, this might not be a piece of cake as two major Tamil films are slated to release this week.
