Vishwaroopam 2 11 Days Box Office Collection Report: Kamal Haasan's Film Runs Out Of Steam!
The legendary Kamal Haasan is arguably one of the most respected names in the Tamil film industry today. The 'Ulaga Nayagan', as his fans love to call him, enjoys a strong fan following thanks to his remarkable versatility as an actor and outspoken nature. Over the years, he has given Tamil cinema some of its greatest films and this has established him as the ultimate pride of Kollywood. At present, he is in the limelight because of his latest film Vishwaroopam 2, which hit the screens on August 10, 2018. The spy-thriller got off to a terrific start at the Chennai box office and remained the top choice of the movie buffs in Week 1.
However, in a disturbing development, it seems to have slowed down massively in Week 2. Here is the detailed box office report.
Vishwaroopam 2 Collapses At The Chennai Box Office!
After collecting nearly Rs 4.78 Crore in Week 1, Vishwaroopam 2 witnessed a drop on Friday (August 17, 2018) and collected Rs 13 Lakh at the Chennai box office. It showed no signs of improvement and eventually collapsed on Monday (August 20, 2018). According to a leading trade analyst, Vishwaroopam 2 collected merely Rs 5 Lakh on Day 11.
Did Kolamaavu Kokila Derail Vishwaroopam 2?
The general feeling is that the tremendous response to Kolamaavu Kokila is one of the biggest reasons behind Vishwaroopam 2 failing to make any impact in Week 2. The Nayanthara starrer, hit the screens on August 17 and collected more than Rs 1 Crore at the CBO in the first 3 days itself.
The WOM Is Mixed
Right from the first day, the general feeling has been that Vishwaroopam 2 is not a particularly good film, as it fails to do justice to the high standards set by Vishwaroopam. The mixed WOM seems to have caught up with the film and this has resulted in it slowing down.
Is Indian 2 Still On?
Vishwaroopam 2 needs a long run at the box office in order to emerge as a winner. The latest figures indicate that this is not going be happening. As such, it is most probably going to end up being a failure. In fact, the buzz is that Vishwaroopam 2's lacklustre performance might even affect Kamal's other ambitious film Indian 2.
