The spy-thriller hit the screens on August 10, 2018, and got off to a good start at the box office. The film collected nearly Rs 4.78 Crore at the Chennai box office during Week 1. However, it soon collapsed and had a dreadful second week. Here is the latest box office report.
Vishwaroopam 2 Sinks At The CBO
According to a leading trade analyst, Vishwaroopam 2 collected Rs 6 Lakh at the Chennai box office on Thursday (August 23, 2018) and this left countless Kamal fans heartbroken. The film's total collections stand at Rs 5.51 Crore. In other words, it collected less than Rs 1 Crore in Week 2.
Vishwaroopam 2 Set To Be A Big Disappointment
Vishwaroopam 2 has been shot against a reasonably high budget and needs to have a long run in the theatres in order to be a success. The current trends indicate that it is no longer the first choice of the audience. And, this means that its theatrical run might come to an end soon. All in all, Vishwaroopam 2 is set to be a big disappointment.
Did A 'Lady Superstar' Slay Vishwaroopam 2?
The buzz is that Nayanthara's Kolamaavu Kokila, which hit the screens on August 17, 2018, is one the reasons behind the Vishwaroopam 2 debacle. The comedy-drama opened on a terrific note and collected more than Rs 1 Crore at the Chennai box office during the first few days. The mixed WOM too seems to have caught up with Vishwaroopam 2 and wrecked it completely.
What Does The Vishwaroopam 2 Debacle Mean For Kamal?
Kamal is expected to begin shooting for Indian 2 in the near future. However, many in the industry feel that the lukewarm response to Vishwaroopam 2 might affect this plan. Kamal is also expected to dedicate more time to his political party in the days to come. As such, if Indian 2 gets delayed/shelved, Vishwaroopam 2 might turn out to be his swansong.
