Darbar,
the
Rajinikanth
starrer
had
incurred
losses
at
the
box
office,
despite
being
a
highly
publicized
release.
The
underwhelming
performance
of
the
AR
Murugadas
directorial
has
severely
affected
the
distributors.
Later,
the
distributors
demanded
compensation
from
the
makers,
and
Lyca
Productions,
the
banner
which
bankrolled
Darbar,
agreed
to
the
same.
However,
the
latest
reports
suggest
that
the
Darbar
settlement
is
delayed
due
to
various
reasons.
If
the
sources
are
to
be
believed,
the
crane
mishap
that
happened
in
the
sets
of
the
Kamal
Haasan
starrer
Indian
2,
the
upcoming
venture
of
Lyca
Productions,
and
the
coronavirus
threat
has
delayed
the
settlement
between
the
Darbar
distributors
and
production
banner.
Reportedly,
the
theaters
are
yet
to
receive
the
deposit
money
for
Darbar
from
the
distributors,
due
to
the
same
reasons.
This
has
landed
the
theater
owners
in
deep
trouble,
as
most
of
the
films
that
released
before
coronavirus
under-performed
at
the
theaters,
and
there
are
no
releases
from
May
2020,
due
to
the
lockdown
restrictions.
To
the
universe,
Darbar
has
reportedly
suffered
a
loss
of
around
Rs.
70
Crores,
despite
getting
a
massive
release
across
the
globe.
The
distributors,
who
are
severely
affected
by
the
failure
of
the
Rajinikanth
starrer,
had
even
decided
to
go
on
a
hunger
strike
before
the
actor's
residence
before
the
settlement
was
made.
However,
the
failure
of
Darbar
has
severely
affected
the
market
value
of
both
Rajinikanth
and
AR
Murugadoss.
According
to
the
reports,
the
failure
of
the
movie
has
promoted
Sun
Pictures,
the
banner
which
bankrolls
the
superstar's
next
outing
Annaatthe,
to
ask
the
senior
actor
to
take
a
pay
cut
for
the
project.
AR
Murugadoss,
the
director
too
is
asked
by
the
same
banner
to
take
a
pay
cut
for
his
next
outing,
the
upcoming
Vijay
starrer
which
has
been
tentatively
titled
as
Thalapathy
65.
As
per
the
reports,
both
the
superstar
and
director
have
reduced
their
generation
by
50
percent
for
their
next
outings,
due
to
the
failure
of
Darbar.
