Indian 2, the upcoming Kamal Haasan-Shankar project is one of the most awaited projects of the Tamil film industry. The project has been making headlines lately, post the unfortunate accident that happened on the sets, in February 2020. Rumours which suggest that Indian 2 is shelved has been rounds from the past few weeks.
However, the producers of the Kamal Haasan starrer, Lyca Productions have now put an end to the speculations. The representatives of Lyca Productions rubbished the reports and confirmed that Indian 2 is very much on cards in the recent interview given to India Today daily.
The makers have also revealed that about 60 percent of the Shankar directorial is already finished. The team is planning to kickstart the next schedule once the all India lockdown comes to an end. An official update from the Lyca Productions regarding the current status of the Kamal Haasan-Shankar project is expected to be revealed in a couple of days.
Recently, it was rumoured that Lyca Productions is planning to cancel their 2-film deal with Kamal Haasan, following the fallout with the actor. It was also speculated that Shankar has already began the works for his next directorial venture, and has no plans to resume Indian 2. Kamal has reportedly had a fallout with the Lyca team, after the tragic crane accident which happened on February 19 in the sets of the movie which was created in EVP Film City.
Indian 2 is a sequel to the duo Kamal Haasan-Shankar's 1996-released blockbuster Indian, which was released in 1996. Kamal is reprising his highly celebrated character Senapathy in the second installment, which is said to be a mega-budget venture. Kajal Aggarwal appears as the female lead in the project, which features Siddharth in a pivotal role. Anirudh Ravichander has replaced AR Rahman, as the music director of the second installment.
