Fans and followers of director Karthick Naren have been eagerly awaiting the release of his next Naragasooran. Though the film was announced in 2017, a long delay in its release caused disappointment amongst many. Well now, after a couple of years, the film has yet again made it to the headlines for a big reason that has a lot to do with its release.
If latest reports are to be believed, the supernatural thriller starring Arvind Swami, Indrajith Sukumaran, Shriya Saran, Sundeep Kishan and Aathmika in lead roles, will now skip theatrical release. As per reports, the makers will soon announce the film's direct OTT release on SonyLIV in June. Though there is no confirmation regarding the release, fans are now expecting an official announcement from the makers.
Earlier, during his interaction with media Karthick had hinted that the film might release in March, however, the COVID-19 pandemic reportedly forced the makers to postpone the date. Naragasooran is backed by Badri Kasthuri under Shraddha Entertainment. Though the film was initially bankrolled by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the director was seen backing out from the project owing to some differences with Karthick.
Also starring Aathma Patrick, Kitty and Nalinikanth, the film has music composed by Ron Ethan Yohann. With camera cranked by Sujith Sarang, Naragasooran's editing has been carried out by Sreejith Sarang. Notably, the film is second in Karthick's thriller trilogy, after the 2016 film Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (D16) that starred Rahman, Prakash Vijayaraghavan and Ashwin Kumar in lead roles. Interestingly, Naragasooran is also said to be a spin-off of Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru.
