Bala is a leading director in Tamil film industry. After not directing films for the past few years, he gave a re-entry with Vanangaan. He started the film at the end of 2021. It was announced that Suriya is going to play the lead role and his own 2D production company is going to produce the film. The shooting was also conducted in March last year in Kanyakumari.

After a month of shooting, it was reported that there was a fight between Suriya and Bala, and the controversy erupted that both of them stopped the shoot halfway and left. Later, Suriya's side denied it, but the shoot was never started again. After this, Bala announced through an official statement that actor Suriya has left the film.

In this situation, a new problem has arisen. Jithin, the coordinator, has brought some supporting actresses from Kerala to act in Vanangaan. A woman named Linda is one of them.

Strong sources from the film industry says that Jithin made an agreement with Linda to act in the film for a total salary of Rs. 22,600. But it is said that the salary was not paid to her as stated. Jithin has beaten and kicked the supporting actress Linda who asked about this. After this, actress Linda filed a complaint at the Kanyakumari police station. This incident has shocked the crew of Vanangaan.
