Casting Couch: Serial Actress Lashes Out During Interview, "What Is Your Problem If I 'Adjusted' Or Not"

In the recent past, it has been a common thing to ask actresses if they faced casting couch issue, whenever actresses appear for interviews. Gayathri Krishnan, who plays an important role in Sun TV's Edhir Neechal, recently took part in an interview, where she was asked if she had faced the issue of casting couch.

Answering the question, Gayathri lashed out saying, "Why are all the actress are being asked this question? Do you all expect that we would burst into tears and explain what we went through the moment you ask us about casting couch? I don't know what is your issue if we really faced casting couch or if we really accepted to 'adjust' to get a role in movies or serials."

She further added, "This question is going to do no good to the actresses. Even if we have faced such issues, this question is going to add fuel to the fire and hurt their feelings. So, don't ask this question ever again."

For those who don't know, Ethir Neechal is a Tamil serial starring Madhumitha, Kaniha, Priyadarshini and Haripriya in prominent roles. The drama is financed by Sun Entertainment and Thiruselvam Theatres. Ethirneechal premiered on February 7, 2022 on Sun TV, and is digitally streamed on Sun NXT also. V Thiruselvam, who has previously helmed hit serials such as Kolangal, Metti Oli, and Pokkisham is the director of this serial, too.

The story of the drama revolves around a high-achieving elder sister Janani, and her three sisters Eshwari, Renuka and Nandhini who are all well-educated. The serial made the headlines wildly when superstar Rajinikanth admitted that he watches the serial without missing even one episode and that he loves it. With unexpected twists and turns and highly engaging drama, Ethir Neechal is one of the serials that tops the TRP charts very often.
